Sierra Cardigan

It's finished!

I made several modifications to the pattern: I left the sleeves to roll (not sure if I'm gonna stick with that one - I might make them shorter by ripping back or hemming them up). I also added the button band as I knit the front pieces, as the vertical garter-stitch lines seemed to pull on most sweaters I saw on Ravelry (and, for that matter, the original pattern), making the sweater look too small. I also made the collar bigger, after reading the complaints on Ravelry about the way it would not lay flat.




I love this cardigan, and would definitely make it again. Trust me, it's soft and cuddly and warm, and even fits well. But you're not getting an action shot because it is 34 C/93 F here in sunny Jerusalem. Maybe this fall, after I get my very own camera.

The button band pulls slightly up when laid flay, but when the sweater is on you can't tell at all. I might add an extra row or two at the bottom with a crochet hook, but I might just leave it as is.

In other news, I have decided to finish the Central Park Hoodie without a hood. I haven't really worn hoodies in a while, and don't think I have enough yarn anyway to make the hood. I saw a really nice version with a shawl collar that I love on Ravelry: (Ravelry link), so I think I'm going to do the same...
