This easy-as-pie pattern was also inspired by another super-easy scarf pattern, the “Airy Scarf” from Last-Minute Knitted Gifts (Heisse Nadel auf Deutsch) by Joelle Hoverson.
Needles: one set US size 10.5 (6.5 mm) and a needle a few sizes larger (I used US 17, which is bigger than 10mm – it was handy when I needed it), for casting on and binding off.
Yarn: I used Lang Mohair Luxe, which is 77% Superkid Mohair and 23% Silk, 25g and 175 meters per ball, 2 balls. You could also use something like Kidsilk Haze or Mondial Le Perle Prestigio. Scarf is worked with 2 strands of yarn held together.
Finished dimensions:
Width: 7 in / 18 cm
Length: 60 in. / 152.5 cm
Gauge: about 3 sts = 1 in. / 2.5 cm. in pattern
Pattern:
Repeat over 3 rows.
Row 1: knit.
Row 2: knit.
Row 3: knit 1, *yo, k2tog. Repeat from * to end of row.
Using larger needle, and holding 2 strands of yarn together, cast on 21 stitches.
Switch to smaller needles and work in pattern for desired length (my scarf is about 60 inches.) End scarf after having knit row 2. Use larger needle to bind off scarf. Weave ends and block.
Wrap scarf around neck. Go outside (preferably on the Terrace) and have a Spotted Cow and some curds.

That is a beautiful scarf! Someone needs to make a mock mohair for me to make some of these gorgeous items with.
You have to tell me, what is a "5-hour baby sweater"? because that term is not in my vocabulary ;-)
